Undergraduate Courses

BME 3410 Systems Mechanobiology | Spring 2021, Spring 2022

This course analyzes how mechanical forces affect biological responses across biological scales, including molecular, cellular, tissue, organ, and organism level. Theoretical and empirical foundations and engineering approaches to applying, quantifying, and elucidating mechanobiological mechanisms across each scale will be presented. Applications in human health and disease pathogenesis will be emphasized.

BME 4410 Biofluid Mechanics | Fall 2021

The transport of energy, mass, and momentum is essential to the function of living systems. Changes in these processes often underlie pathological conditions. This course covers the understanding and analysis of micro-macroscopic fluid flow phenomena within the human body and the relation between fluid flow and physiological processes. The topics covered in this course span from cellular level to organs under healthy and diseased conditions.
